Nigeria: Ikere-Ekiti Now New Site for State University of Education - AllAfrica.com

The contention trailing the constitution of Ekiti State University of Education may have got been finally set to rest as the state authorities at the weekend named Ikere Ekiti as the lasting land land land site for the institution.The existing College of Education in the town have been moved to Ifaki Ekiti.
Briefing newsmen in Bustle Ekiti, the state Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Abiola Ayinmonche said authorities decided to site the establishment in the town after it carefully considered the unreserved apology tendered by Ikere community to the governor, Engr Segun Oni and decided to site the insititution at the present location of the College of Education in the town , adding that the college would now be moved to Ifaki Ekiti.
The commissioner said the issue of establishing the university side by side with the college of Education makes not arise, as the guideline of the National University Committee (NUC) make not allow that.
Ayinmonche additional disclosed that the present Faculty of Education at the University of Bustle Ekiti wiil be merged with the the newly established University ,adding that the University of Bustle Ekiti would henceforth halt admitting fresh pupils to it Education Faculty as from adjacent academic session.

While justifying the motion of the existent College of Education to a new location, the commissioner pointed out that Ifaki Ekiti, the hometown of Engr Segun Oni became the ideal topographic point for the resettlement of the college since there was no single establishment of higher acquisition in the whole North Senatorial District where the town falls to.
Commenting on some senior secondary schools with less population , the commissioner said the state authorities would soon fold down any senior secondary school with entire population less 200 and less than 40 in class.
