40 Malaysians duped in admission scam in Indian med college

KUALA LUMPUR: About 40 Malaysian
students were allegedly duped of crores of Sri Lanka rupees after being assured of
admission in a medical college in India, prompting the authorities to publish a
stern warning to the unscrupulous agents. Higher Education Minister
Mustapa Mohamed said the authorities was planning to print the name calling of the
agents involved in such as cozenages and convey up before Parliament the issue of
imposing mulcts on them. Mohamed said parents and pupils went all
the manner to Republic Of India before realising that they had been duped of 40 million ringgit
(47 crore approx) for non-existent seats at the Kasturban Checkup College,
Manipal. "They have got made a police force study on the matter. We consider
this a serious job and we are looking at publication the name calling of those who
have done this, so that others will not fall quarry to their antics," he said
after meeting 42 out of the 63 registered agents who are allowed to get
Malaysian pupils seating in medical colleges abroad. "There are no
agents involved when it come ups to recruiting pupils for the Kasturba Medical
College in India. I am sad to state that their money is burnt," the curate was
quoted by New Pass modern times as saying. Mustapa urged parents to
check thoroughly before enrolling their children in medical colleges abroad. There are 12,000 Malayan pupils studying medical specialty in India, Ukraine, Russia
and Indonesia, while 8,000 were studying medical specialty locally. He said
the ministry was also worried with the quality of docs from respective foreign
universities as even unqualified pupils were trying to put medical
seats.
